The strength of Samson....

We have started a bible study with our kiddos every night and right now we are talking about Samson. I don't think I ever really comprehended exactly the mighty strength that he had. And how God was very much with him. In Judges 16: 2-3 says "The people of Gaza were told, "Samson is here!" So they surrounded the place and laid and wait for him all night at the city gate. They made no move during the night, saying"At dawn we'll kill him." But Samson lay there only till the middle of the night. Then he got up and took hold the doors of the city gate, together with the two posts, and tore them loose, bar and all. He lifted them to his shoulders and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron." Could you imagine that sort of strength? This kind of strength is something only God can give. As long as you are fully trusting in him and follow his commandments he will never depart from you. As we saw a little later that Samson did what God asked him not to do and God left Samson and his strength was gone. We can not pick and choose when we want God in our lives it has to be a 24/7 commitment. Of course we all stumble, but as long as we have faith and trust in God he will always be there to help us up and keep us going. Samson became a slave and was brought to the temple to be mocked. As he was being mocked Samson asked God one last time for his strength to return and God came to him and helped. That tells you how forgiving our God really is. Strength cannot be measured by what we can do But it is measured by how far we let God carry us.
